This morning I took part in my last sailing lesson this year. For others they will continue until the end of September, but I will miss out as I will be on holiday from next Saturday.
This morning I was sailing with Paul and Brian who are both novices like me. We were being instructed by Stuart in his boat, known 'locally' as the QE2. This is because it is a very large dinghy and as Stuart had told us on many occaisions very hard to capsize. This morning's lesson we were practising jybing and tacking and the culmination was to be for us to sail a trianular course without our instructor present. The sailing was going very well indeed, Stu is a very calm patient teacher. we were all very happy in our boat, telling jokes and hearing of Paul's reason for growing his beard: he is playing the inn keeper in Tosaca's 'Fiddler On The Roof'. Brian and I had taken the helm and it was Paul's turn, he was doing well, but unfortunatly made a tactical error and in slow motion the boat capsized and we all ended up bobbing about in the water!
